We would like to
extend our thanks to Studio Video, Ludwik Stieber, Roman Postek and
Andrzej Glass whose materials were used to make this film.
In 1996 a group of
enthusiasts led by Eugeniusz Pieniazek commenced work on building the
replica of RWD-5. This aircraft, although with necessary modifications,
was made famous by Stanislaw Skarzynski's transatlantic flight of 1933.
The group comprised of designers, craftsmen and numerous volunteers
completed the project on August 25, 2000, and on that day the airplane
took to the air. Several members of the original team are now active in
their newest undertaking: a flying replica of the legendary RWD-6 that
carried Zwirko and Wigura to their victory in Challenge 1932.
